PLDR is proud to be a founding sponsor of the Corvias Foundation charity golf event. Corvias Foundation was founded in 2006, and awards scholarships to college-bound students from military families, as well as providing access to educational, internship, mentoring, and volunteer opportunities. The Foundation has awarded more than $11 million in scholarships and grants directly to students to support their education.

PLDR is pleased to announce that Scott W. Kowalski has been named to the "2018 Legal Elite" by Virginia Business magazine.  The 2018 Legal Elite list is Virginia Business magazine's 19th annual report.  It is determined by peer votes and is divided into 18 specialties. 

One of our partners, Scott Kowalski, is a long-time member of the Board of Directors for Associated Builders & Contractors - Virginia Chapter.  ABC-VA and Associated General Contractors - Virginia Chapter (AGC-VA) have collaborated to address the significant shortfall in construction industry personnel at all levels.

PLDR is pleased to announce that Kaitlyn E. E. Martin has been named to the “2019 Millennials on the Move” by Lynchburg Business magazine. The 2019 Millennials on the Move marks the magazine’s fifth annual report recognizing top young professionals in the Lynchburg area. A panel of judges reviewed over 125 nominations and selected 25 individuals under the age of 40 to feature in this year’s class of Millennials on the Move.

  • We will examine the purpose and intent of lien waivers
  • We will examine the various types of lien releases (interim, final) and the language used by Owners, GCs, and subcontractors to protect their interests
  • Are lien releases enforced by courts and arbitrators in Virginia?  Yes.
  • Should contractors negotiate the terms of their lien releases?  Yes.

We are pleased to announce that one of our principals, Scott W. Kowalski, was selected as the Secretary of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar Construction and Public Contracts Law Section at the Section’s annual meeting in Virginia Beach in June 2017. Scott has served on the Board of Governors of the Section since 2011.

One of our principals, Scott Kowalski, co-presented the Construction Law Case Update with Tom Wolf at the VSB Construction and Public Contracts Law Section Annual CLE in Charlottesville on November 4, 2017. Scott and associate Mark Burgin were among the co-authors of the written materials for the CLE.
